How to create a 1080-pixel square

  1. Choose the photo or graphic to make square.
  2. Review the 1080 × 1080 preset. Use Crop to fill for an edge-to-edge square, or Fit with borders to retain the whole image.
  3. Resize and review the square preview. Download after confirming the output dimensions and format.

Example

A 1600 × 1000 landscape photo → a 1080 × 1080 square. The default central crop removes the left and right edges; borders preserve them.

When to use this tool

Use this for square product tiles, image grids or an upload field that explicitly asks for 1080 × 1080. For several social-post shapes, open the Instagram resizer instead.

Supported formats & limits

Up to 20 MiB per image, 24 megapixels and 20 files in a sequential batch; limits are lower on low-resource devices. Static images only. JPG, PNG and WebP output. Upscaling creates additional pixels, not additional photographic detail. EXIF/GPS metadata is removed.

Good to know

Will this stretch my photo into a square?

No. The default fills the square with a centered crop. Fit with borders keeps the full photo and fills unused space instead of changing its proportions.

What if the source is smaller than 1080 pixels?

Allow upscaling is enabled for this exact-size preset. The resulting file can be 1080 × 1080, but enlargement does not add photographic detail. Turn it off if you prefer smaller output.

Can the borders be transparent?

The Fit with borders option uses the chosen background color. To retain existing transparency without borders, use PNG or WebP and keep the default crop mode.

Can I choose a different square size?

Yes. Change width and height together and check New size before resizing. Changing settings invalidates the old download.
