How to compress below 100 KB

  1. Select a static image from your device.
  2. Use the preset 100 KB budget and pick a format accepted by the destination. Choose a background for transparent JPG inputs.
  3. Run compression and review the preview, final pixel dimensions and exact number of bytes before downloading.

Example

A 1.8 MB profile photo → a JPG or WebP within 100,000 bytes. Compression searches for a usable quality setting before reducing dimensions.

When to use this tool

Use this for profile pictures or application forms that specify a 100 KB maximum. A byte limit does not define image dimensions: check any separate width and height requirements at the destination.

Supported formats & limits

One static image at a time, up to 20 MiB and 24 megapixels. Lower device limits are shown in the workspace. JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF and HEIC/HEIF inputs are supported where the local decoder is available. Output is JPG or WebP. KB means 1,000 bytes. EXIF/GPS metadata is removed; animated images are unsupported.

Good to know

Does 100 KB mean 100,000 or 102,400 bytes?

This tool uses decimal KB: the maximum is 100,000 bytes. That also fits a 100 KiB limit, which is 102,400 bytes.

Will this preserve the original photo on my device?

Yes. Processing creates a new download in browser memory. Your selected source file is not overwritten.

Why did the output dimensions change?

If the quality search cannot meet the target, the tool can reduce dimensions while preserving the aspect ratio. Disable Allow dimensions to shrink to prevent that; some images then cannot meet the limit.

Can I select a different maximum?

Yes. Edit Maximum file size (KB). Changing the target invalidates the previous output, so compress again before downloading.
