QR codes

Make a Wi-Fi QR card guests can use safely

A Wi-Fi QR code is a convenient way to share connection details. Anyone who can read the code can also read those details, including the password for a protected network.

Masking the field does not encrypt the code

The Wi-Fi payload includes the network name, security type and password. Its escape rules handle characters such as semicolons and backslashes; the form builds that payload for you. The dots in a password input only hide the text on screen. For a public sign, use a guest network with access appropriate for visitors.

Test the exact network details

Enter the network name exactly, including spaces and letter case. Use Show to inspect the password before generating. Match the security choice and hidden-network setting to the network. Successful QR generation does not confirm that a particular phone can join that network.

  1. Generate the code with your guest network details.
  2. Scan it with the phones you expect guests to use and confirm an actual connection.
  3. If you edit a field, create the updated code before downloading or printing again.

Print and check the physical card

Print Wi-Fi Card uses the browser’s print dialog. Plain-text password printing is optional and off by default. Keep the light border around the QR, avoid stretching it and test the final print at its intended size. A digital preview alone cannot establish print readability.

If guests cannot connect

First try the same network name and password manually. If that fails, check the network details or router access. If manual connection works, regenerate the QR and test another scanning app or phone. Replace printed cards after changing the Wi-Fi password.
